Yes, that is right my sisters…I am offering up to you the first of three lovely brides today. I mean it only seems appropriate that I post on the beautiful and stunning friends that I have, especially when they are rockin’ vintage-inspired bridal looks, right?
So with no furthur ado, I give you the ballad of Renee and Eric:
Couple: Eric Esper, artist and Renee Posdal, executive assistant/office manager
They met one fateful night at Gold Star Bar on Division Street in Chicago. Renee was with her friend from work, Eric was with some buddies from Michigan. She noticed his handlebar mustache, he noticed her bright red shoulder length bob (thanks to Manic Panic!). Although the union was short the first time around, a trans-Atlantic move to London for Renee, a few different relationships for each, the reunion led to a lasting relationship. They now live in Logan Square (Chicago) and share a pug named Monster.
Married October 3, 2009 in Sturgeon Bay, WI.

I did promise that I would muster up a post today, so here it is.
I seem to be really drawn to season 1 type outfits, possibly because I just love late 50′s fashion. And for as dowdy and childish as they tried to make Peggy look, I just loved her little collared blouses and dresses. I found this little paisley gal via @joulesstar on twitter today. Again the dainty collar and cute, petite lines. This one has a great fall appeal. I would probably throw on some chocolate brown tights and tan suede saddle shoes for the commute and chestnut Mary Jane’s for the work day.
I also recently found this dress at a vintage co-op in Chicago (I have no idea what the place is called, but it is near Reckless Records on the second floor). It fit me absolutely perfectly, which rarely happens so I had to buy it immediately. The collar was stained and it needed a mini repair, so I think I talked the gal down to $21. I wore a fancy, black, lace slip as a reminder that I am actually an adult woman. This dress was super fun and I enjoyed rockin’ it. Now, would I wear it for a client meeting, probably not…but for any other day it suites me just fine!
*Sidebar: If you can read any of the book titles on my book shelf, please don’t judge. I would say I have eclectic taste, but I would also be lying.
**Additional Sidebar: This is my signature pose. I am actually incapable of posing any other way for a photo with only myself.
I have been toying with the idea of featuring a Mad Men inspired outfit every Monday while this season is airing. Thoughts? It might be fun to include both new and vintage ideas. I won’t task myself with finding replicas of cast outfits, but just cute late 50’s to early 60’s looks to pay homage to the only show that gets me
excited to watch tv.
SIDEBAR: I had a lovely, lovely weekend filled with long overdue cleaning, mending, shopping, reading and pampering. The hubby was working so I got caught up on a little “me” time. I was just about over the edge on Friday, so take note that I am now a sane, happy girl.
Now back to the post at hand, Mad Men Monday. As I went back and re-read my lovely September issue magazines this weekend I re-assessed my dog-eared articles and found a super cute ad in Lucky Magazine for Kmart. Kmart has been a little behind the bar with their clothing and it was refreshing to see them out with clothes that a grown gal might actually wear. I went to the site today and they have also made huge improvements to the online shopping experience too! (The navigation is still a little sketchy, but leaps and bounds from where they were.)
The outfit that caught my eye is this retro pink number. I love the 3/4 sleeves, the texture of the tweed and the well-placed asymmetrical button. Oh and the ruby red mary jane’s—sign me up!
I would probably go for an ivory blouse under this, with my pearl stud earrings to soften all the pink. This entire get-up is under $80!!! I think this would probably be more of a Peggy outfit.
