Hi, I’m Kendra.  I’m a mid-western gal that has had the pleasure of living in many distinct locales, but my recent move from Brooklyn to Chicago has brought me back to the Midwest where my heart lives.  I am married to Matt, my complete opposite, but the ultimate love of my life. I enjoy crafting, but mostly for myself—I am the world’s worst seamstress, but I adhere to the “fake it ‘til you make it” premise.  My professional life exists in the world of marketing and social media, which means I am never bored at the office (that also means I may need to start getting up at 5 a.m. to make posts—what was I thinking?)

I decided to start Budget Retro, because with the crash and burn of some of my favorite publications (R.I.P. Domino and Blueprint) I am missing my visual fix.  I also have a hankering for vintage and retro things (thus the name) but I can rarely afford the stuff I really love (damn you mid-century modern furniture!) so I will be on the constant hunt via magazines, catalogs, stores, garage sales, ebay and craiglist to find the goods.  I will attempt to piece together fun finds and great looks for you and your home and I’ll even throw in some fun crafting ideas too.
